Often we fail to communicate critical feedback effectively to our teams, co-workers, and family members. We may be too direct, causing the person to become angry, or we may be too "nice," failing to convey our message clearly. 

This session is inspired by the book "Radical Candor" by Kim Scott. The framework allows you to find the right balance in each conversation and deliver feedback in a well-received way. Jeff will introduce the framework and concepts of the book and walk the participants through real-life scenarios of what it looks like when you practice Radical Candor and what it looks like when you don’t.

Jeff is the Director of Meetings and Events for Ruggles Service Corporation. He has 20+ years experience on the planner and provider side of hospitality. He has successfully led teams as Director of Event Management at the Richmond Marriott Downtown and as Assistant Director of Meetings/Travel for the United Network for Organ Sharing. Jeff has served MPI Virginia as Chapter President and in 2020, completed VSAE’s ALV program. He has presented at numerous industry events on topics like leadership, communication & volunteerism.

Charity

The VSAE Community Service Committee has selected Cameron Gallagher Foundation as the charity raffle recipient this month. Their mission is to fulfill Cameron’s dream and legacy by being a positive force that works to cultivate awareness and understanding of teenage depression and anxiety. They raise awareness of teen mental health to erase stigma, educate in mainstream environments to provide support and tools for teens and their influencers, and prioritize mental health to inspire conversation and care.

Raffle tickets will be sold at the event to raise money for this worthy cause. The winner of the charity raffle receives a one-night stay at the Omni Charlottesville Hotel with breakfast for two, redeemable between November through March next year.
