Meeting Planner Shared Interest Group Meeting



Topic: “What tool do you use during your events to keep track of, well… EVERYTHING?”

Date: Friday, October 25, 2019

Time: 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Location: Your choice but you will need your favorite computer or tablet and a decent internet connection. If you end up in a public space, headphones are recommended.

This meeting will be conducted in a virtual space using Zoom, an online meeting platform. A few days before the meeting, you will receive an email with instructions for downloading the Zoom plugin, if you don’t already have that, as well as a link that you will use the day of the meeting to take you to the virtual meeting room. 

Zoom allows for video conferencing (sight and sound) using your computer’s built-in camera and microphone. Or you can choose an audio only connection if you don’t want people to see you (up to you!). In this platform, the host can share their screen so that everyone is looking at the same documents while discussion happens through the video or audio connections. If you choose to turn off your video feed and only use the audio through your computer, you will still be able to see the screen being shared. If your computer or internet doesn’t want to work that day, there is a call-in number that acts the same as an old-fashioned conference call line. You will hear everything that goes on but you just wouldn’t be able to see the screen being shared. 

This meeting style is something new for the Meeting Planner SIG but we feel that it is an effective tool which allows all of us to meet efficiently and hopefully allows more people to participate. On your mark. Get set. Let’s Zoom!
