This experience highlights the people, places, and events that shaped early American leadership and governance, including stops along Duke of Gloucester Street and at key landmarks such as the Capitol and Governor’s Palace. Led by Historical Interpreters, the tour offers insight into daily life in the 18th century and the ideas that influenced the founding of the nation. This immersive experience includes a behind-the-scenes tour led by local farmers and gardeners, offering insight into how seasonal ingredients are grown, harvested, and used in historical and modern dishes. Guests will enjoy a curated tasting menu featuring fresh, locally sourced bites and beverages that highlight the region’s agricultural heritage, from garden-forward small plates to comforting farm classics. You will also have the chance to meet one of the farm’s most beloved residents, Elijah, the plow horse. Start the VSAE Annual Conference with an exclusive visit to the Williamsburg Winery, one of Virginia’s original wine pioneers, set on the historic Wessex Hundred estate. This experience includes a guided tour of the winery and property, followed by a hosted tasting in the private reserve cellar featuring eight limited-release and reserve wines paired with charcuterie. The tasting will be led by winery staff and will include a special appearance by Head Winemaker Stacey Lightfoot.
The 2.5-hour experience includes parting gifts for attendees, along with a 25% discount on wine purchases throughout the conference at both the winery and the Williamsburg Winery Wine Bar in Merchants Square.
