In the AMC environment, leadership is less about titles and more about influence. Whether working with association boards, volunteer leaders, clients, or internal teams, AMC professionals must build trust, communicate effectively, and navigate competing priorities to move organizations forward. This interactive session will explore practical strategies for strengthening influence within the AMC environment and maintaining relevance in a rapidly evolving landscape. Through presentation, peer discussion, and “Pair and Share” exercises, attendees will reflect on examples of effective influence and identify actionable leadership approaches they can apply immediately within their organizations and client relationships. |
11:00–12:00 p.m. AI Governance, Risk & Reality for AMCs
| Dorothy Deng, Partner, Whiteford Law |
As AI adoption accelerates, Association Management Companies face a unique challenge: balancing their own internal AI policies and operational standards while supporting multiple client associations that may each have different expectations, risk tolerances, and governance approaches. This session will explore practical considerations for AMCs navigating AI implementation across diverse client environments, including risk management, data privacy, staff usage guidelines, and policy development. We’ll discuss the differences between creating an AMC-wide AI framework versus adapting to association-specific policies and board expectations. For AMCs serving as outsourced management teams, AI policy development may also need to incorporate legal compliance language specific to a client association’s industry—such as healthcare—and account for emerging “patchwork” of state and sector-specific AI laws mirroring the regulatory approach we have been in U.S. data privacy laws. The session will be interactive, giving attendees the opportunity to share real-world challenges, lessons learned, and strategies for managing AI across multiple organizations while maintaining consistency, efficiency, and trust. |
