Since 1992, project:HOMES has followed a mission of "improving lives by improving homes."  The goal of project:HOMES is to improve the safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency of existing houses and build high quality affordable housing throughout Central Virginia. At project:HOMES we serve low-income individuals and families by making critical home-safety repairs, accessibility modifications, and implementing energy conservation measures in their homes.

Volunteers provide small-scale home repairs and accessibility modifications, which typically include:

• ​Porch, railing & step repair
• Exterior painting
• Clearing overgrown yards
• Tearing down outbuildings
• Wheelchair ramps
• Grab bars, ADA toilets, shower chairs & removable shower heads
